Update on the Law of the Sea Treaty:

Senator Mike Lee (R- UT) just  announced that two more senators, Sen. Portman and Sen. Ayotte, have announced that they will vote against this treaty. Based on these announcements there are now  enough Senators who have said they will vote against this treaty  to call it “effectively dead,” says Heritage Action. (You can see their list of Senators who have said they will vote against it here.)

This is another example of why I look forward to working with Sen. Lee. He has endorsed my candidacy, and has been at the forefront of this issue. He has also been a lead voice in calling for a sound budget with strong tax reform. He proposed the “Saving the American Dream” budget in the Senate, which was constructed by the Heritage Foundation and co-sponsored by Senators Jim DeMint and Ran Paul. I have endorsed that budget and look forward to working towards its implementation in order to put our country back on a path to prosperity.

As Heritage Action CEO Michael Needham states, “The demise of the Law of the Sea Treaty not only represents a victory for American sovereignty, but also the American people.”

I agree.
